VFW Post 3830 - The Biggest Little Post in Hawaii

Honor the Dead by Helping the Living

Carl "Slim" Hugh Carney, 87, of Pahoa, Hawaii
He died on Monday, July 6, 2009 at Hilo Medical Center
He was born on September 30, 1921, in Campbell, California
 
He was a Pilot in the Army Air Corps during the World War II flying transport in the European theatre. He later retired as a Rocket Test Technician for the Aerojet working on the development and testing of the Mercury, Apollo and Saturn rockets for the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA). He also held a degree in CiviCulture/ Forestry and was a member of the Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
 
He is survived by:
 
WIFE:  Eve Miranda Carney of Pahoa, Hawaii
 
DAUGHTER:  Sharon (Doug) Lane of California
 
SONS:  Carl H., Jr. (Christine) Carney of Idaho
       Thomas Miranda of Oregon
       Richard (Kathy) Carney of Idaho
       Alan (Cheri) Carney of Idaho
       Robin (Melissa) Carney of California
       Rory Carney of Idaho
       Lance Carney of Pahoa, Hawaii
             
 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren
 
 Numerous cousins, nephews and nieces
